Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aspire direct primary Care insurance?

No. We contract directly with our patients for all your primary care services. Similar to a gym membership or your cellphone contract.

Do I still need insurance if I Am a member of Aspire DPC?

We recommend that our patients have some type of major medical insurance. Most often our patients chose a high deductible plan to cover hospitalizations. We are happy to put you in contact with an insurance representative that can help you customize a plan to your specific needs. Often coupling our membership with a high deductible insurance plan can save families up to $1000 per month.

Can I use my Hsa to pay for my membership?

Probably! An executive order was signed recently that allows for DPC membership to qualify as an HSA/FSA allowable expense. We recommend that you check with your HSA/FSA company for further details.

Is this “CONCIERGE Medicine”?

No. Concierge medicine still bills insurances and requires copays. Additionally concierge medicine typically costs between $3,000-$10,000 a year. Direct Primary Care is a contract directly between the physician and the patient, without insurance interference. We do both provide for longer visits, same day/next day access and direct contact with the physician via phone/text/email. DPC provides concierge services that anyone can afford.

will i really get the access to my doctor you are promising?

Yes. In a traditional insurance based office, you are vying for your physicians time with 3,500 other patients. In direct primary care, the patients, at most, number 500. This allows for time to be available daily for any concerns our members may need addressed. Additionally, you will have ability to contact the doctor directly via phone/text/email.

How can this be so inexpensive?

Primary care services should never be so expensive that people are limited in accessing them. Unfortunately, insurances have increased prices despite the fact that delivering the care hasn’t changed much in the last few decades. By removing the insurance constraints, Aspire Direct Primary Care can transparently offer our services at prices that are affordable.

Can people of any Age join Aspire dpc?

Yes. Dr Gero is a board certified family physician and provides comprehensive healthcare to all ages from birth to >100 years old. Additionally, she provides home visits for that first newborn visit after discharge from the hospital to help relieve the burden of leaving the house so soon and to limit your precious baby’s exposure to infection.

I have Medicare, Can i still join Aspire DPC?

Yes. Dr. Gero and Aspire Direct Primary Care don’t bill Medicare, but we can still order labs and radiology tests and specialists referrals. Unfortunately, some Medicare replacement plans, whether HMO or PPO, require that your PCP be “in-network” or they will not pay for any of Dr. Gero’s orders. We recommend that you contact your Medicare insurance provider to see if this includes your plan.

What happens if i need to see a specialist or get hospitalized?

By providing unprecedented access and longer visits for our patients we aim to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where that type of care are required, we will assist in coordinating care with your hospitalist or specialist.

I own a business. Can i provide memberships for my employees?

Yes. Often we can save businesses up to 50% on their medical expenses and provide a higher level of care.

Are my medical records ever shared with insurance companies?

We maintain the utmost standards of privacy. We are never obligated to provide any third party with a copy of your records unless you specifically ask that we do so.
